I’ve spent a lot of time lately thinking about how to strengthen our company culture. The link between a strong engaged company team and the productivity and success of the company is undeniable, and the way our staff see their work makes a difference in our clients’ experience.
One of the reasons I started this company was that I wanted to create a great place to work, where people can learn and grow while providing service that exceeds our clients’ wildest expectations. I wanted a culture of respect, innovation, collaboration and enthusiasm. It says right in our employee handbook, key company values: Respect – for our clients, our vendors, our environment and ourselves. Collaboration – with each other, our clients and our partners. Innovation – instead of settling for the status quo, we seek out new ideas, new applications, and new solutions. Enthusiasm – we love technology! And we demonstrate it in the way we perform our jobs.
The only thing of real importance that leaders do is to create and manage culture.
I firmly believe the MOST important thing I can do as a leader is take care of my staff, so they can take care of our clients. But, like everyone, I get lost in the everyday demands of business from time to time. Then I lose focus on our core: my team and the company culture that drives us.
So, for the rest of 2012, my number one priority is to strengthen our company culture in a sustainable way. I am looking for ways to engage and inspire my team, with more autonomy, training, and growth opportunities within the company. How are you strengthening your company culture?
